Alumni Feature: Melinda Orengo
Melinda moved to the UK eight years ago to study Musical Theatre at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She then moved to London after graduating to get her masters in Actor Musicianship at Rose Bruford College.
Since then, she has worked mainly in new musicals in London. She was in Police Cops: The Musical which played both at the Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland and Southwark Playhouse in London. Recently, she was part of the cast of Precipice at The New Diorama theatre which was an actor musician musical. She also just finished doing a run of the new actor musician revival of The Secret Garden at York Theatre Royal directed by Tony Award Winner, John Doyle.
This summer, she will be going back to Scotland to be a part of the UK premiere of an actor musician play, I Can Die Too at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, written by Frances Ruffelle, Sally George and Alan Cumming.
As well as being an actor and singer, she is also a classically trained cellist.

About College & Pre-College Training
I got my BA in Musical Theatre at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and my MA in Actor Musicianship at rose Bruford College. Both programs trained me as an actor, singer and musician. In the UK, a popular genre of theatre is Actor Musicianship where the actors not only act, sing and dance, but they also play instruments as well. Both of my college programs trained me to be a strong actor musician which was great for me because I already had training as a cellist. I also play bass guitar and double bass which I learned during my training.
