Alumni Feature: Nick Barasch

Nick Barasch was a member of BYE from 2008-2010.

“I’ve been a working actor for many years; first as a child and now as an adult! My first job on Broadway was in the revival of West Side Story (Kiddo) in 2009. Currently, I’m playing Frederic in Pirates! The Penzance Musical on Broadway.”

Scroll down to learn a little more about Nick, his background and some advice for young performers.

After High School …

I did not go to college for performing arts. Instead, I moved to New York City and trained there. I studied at various studios around the city in all disciplines —voice, acting and dance!

BYE Memories …

Performing at Alice Tully Hall with BYE was so cool! I remember it well :)

A little advice from Nick …

I would say a few things....one, trust that time is on your side. If you are passionate about performing and are thinking of making a career out of it, know that it takes many years of studying and persevering and exploring who you are as an artist. You don't have to have it all figured out right now! Second, try everything! See everything! Fill your cup in as many ways as possible. Be open to trying new things, and if something doesn't work for you, leave it behind. Trust that you will find the right teachers to guide you along the way. And finally, have fun! This kind of work is play—something I have to remind myself all the time :)
